UUP well represented at ABEABC Conference

UUP was well represented at the Adult Basic Education Association of BC’s Professional Development Conference held on April 27/28 at the Harrison Resort.  Sheryl Newton focussed on “What to Consider when Indigenizing a Class”.  Beverly Jones Redekop introduced the timely topic, “What do we do about them? Struggling with they as a gender neutral singular pronoun in English class.”  Michelle Vandepol provided the value and opportunity to “Connect — Broaden Your Network without Tying up Your Calendar: The LinkedIn Advantage”. Leonne Beebe involved her students in presenting “Learner-centered Teaching: Using Learner-led Peer Review.” Vandepol and Beebe also participated in the ABE Community Panel. After several years as conference coordinator, Beebe passed this position to Vandepol and Julia Dodge. Next year’s 39th Conference will be held on April 26/27 at the Harrison Resort.
