Teaching and Learning cut the ribbon on its newly renovated space last week and held an open house to demonstrate its new facilities, services, and equipment. The ribbon was cut by President Mark Evered, Provost and Vice President Academic Eric Davis, and Director of Teaching and Learning Maureen Wideman. The new space includes an improved video studio for students and faculty and consulting spaces, and houses new technologies such as the virtual reality goggles, document cameras, and a short-throw interactive projector. The renovations also enabled the development of a faculty resource centre, now called ThinkerSpace. The ThinkerSpace is a dedicated place where faculty can work and collaborate with faculty from across campus. It is connected to Teaching and Learning to enable support if required. The name ThinkerSpace was chosen from 95 entrants in the Name the Space competition. The winning entry was submitted by Maple Melder-Crozier, a faculty member in Child, Youth and Family Studies. More than 100 people attended the Open House to share in the celebration, experiment with the new technologies and mingle with their colleagues.
