Senate recently approved a five-year academic schedule (aka sessional dates) from 2017/18 through to 2021/22, as well as guidelines for setting the academic schedule.
As this is a rolling five-year schedule, the dates for the next academic year are fixed and the additional years are in place to help with academic and administrative planning. Each year Senate will be asked for final approval of the dates for the next academic year, to make any adjustments needed to the dates in place and add the fifth year. Thus, although each year is built based on a common set of guidelines, they are subject to revision if circumstances change and should be considered tentative until final approval is received from Senate each year, normally towards the end of the Fall semester.
It should be noted that as Remembrance Day falls on a weekend over the next two academic years, Senate has determined the day off in lieu of Remembrance day will be the preceding Friday rather than the following Monday to better balance the days of instruction.
