3rd Annual CYC Sleep Out — March 31

Come out and join the 3rd Annual CYC Sleep Out

Why?

  • 500-1,000 youth are on the street any given night in BC.
  • These are youth who have run away, are kicked out, or age who out of foster care with no support.
  • 700 youth age out of foster care each year in BC.
  • 60% of youth living on the street struggle; with mental health issues

What is CYC?

Child and Youth Care practitioners work with children, youth and families with complex needs. They can be found in a variety of settings such as group homes and residential treatment centres, hospitals and community mental health clinics, community-based, outreach and school-based programs, parent education and family support programs, as well as in private practice and juvenile justice programs. As Child and Youth Care (CYC) students and practitioners, we are passionate about the issue of homelessness and raising awareness around the stigma’s and barriers that impact homeless youth today. We want to increase people’s recognition that this is not just an issue that occurs on the downtown eastside (DTES); this is an issue that impacts every community, including those in the Fraser Valley.
What can you do?
Sign up to participate in the 3rd Annual CYC Sleep Out for Covenant House to raise money and awareness to support homeless youth. Also a great opportunity to learn more about the CYC profession!!
Every $200 raised keeps a youth off the streets for one night and provides them with a bed, food, support and counselling, and access to services.
