Share your knowledge at Faculty Microlectures

Apply to Research for Faculty Microlectures or Publication celebration before February 14

Take the 2-minute challenge
Be a part of the continued success of the UFV Microlecture series

Showcase your research on Tuesday, Feb 21. You are invited to provide “snapshots” highlighting the range and depth of your faculty research and the interdisciplinary nature of your work.

Take the stage for a maximum of two minutes to share exciting findings and implications of your current or completed research projects. More than a dozen topics will be presented in less than one hour. Over 20 faculty participated last year with topics ranging from “Why and How the Police Crash Cars” to “Canada’s First Elected Senate”.

If you would like to be a speaker, contact the Research Advisory Council (RAC) representative from your department or contact Kelly Tracey at kelly.tracey@ufv.ca or local 4819.

You can review Faculty Microlecture guidelines at ufv.ca/research/events/faculty-microlecture/. Please provide your name, department, and the title of your presentation as well as a Faculty MicroLecture Application Form and Photo Release.

Apply today! Registration ends February 14.

Celebrate your published works

Following the Microlectures event, the Research, Engagement, and Graduate Studies office is hosting a reception in A225 to showcase faculty accomplishments in publication. If you would like to present your published works, please email the following before February 14 to Deborah.block@ufv.ca:

A copy of your published piece for display at the event (peer-reviewed journal article, authored or co-authored book or book chapter, edited or co-edited book, video, etc.). New submissions from 2015-2017 will be accepted. For online articles, please print a hard copy for display. Submissions will be returned after the event. Please include all the information needed for a citation in a bibliography (author(s), title, journal title, publisher, city, volume, date, URL, etc.) and a PowerPoint slide that captures something about your publication. Include your name, department, your photo, and title of the publication. Include an image related to your publication (e.g., book cover, photo of you on location, etc.). These can be similar to the ones faculty did for the 2015 publication event (see www.ufv.ca/research/events/publication-celebration). The purpose of the slide is to generate discussions and connections. Be creative! There is a prize draw for participants and the slides will be posted on the web.
