The following is a special early invitation from David Leis.
Dear Colleague,
Last year, at our first-ever, highly successful event we sold out and raised $40,000 after costs for the Changing Lives Building Community Endowment.
It was an inspiring celebration of the incredible work that UFV does right here in the Fraser Valley and beyond. We heard from alumnus Michael Hildebrand, who was named Distinguished Alumni for 2015. Dr. Hildebrand thanked UFV for setting him on the path to his dream job as a professor with research and teaching duties.
“When I think of the impact UFV has had on my life, three things come to mind: expanded horizons, the pursuit of excellence, and putting people first,” he noted. “Through advice and encouragement from Tony Stea, Noham Weinberg, and others at UFV, a whole new world of research was opened up to me. The quality of instruction, hands-on teaching, and mentoring I received was first class: this strong academic foundation is what equipped me to excel in neuroscience. UFV taught me that before all else, people come first. Each and every one of my professors and administrators had an open door policy. I emulate that in my own career.”
Tony Stea, who also attended said, “I’m so glad that I’m here at this wonderful event in support of Mike. After tonight, I’m even more proud to work at UFV!”
Thank you for being a friend and supporter of UFV’s mission of education. Together, we are profoundly transforming students’ lives and strengthening our community. And that’s why I am writing you now — to extend a special early invitation to join us again at our second annual fundraising dinner supporting students at UFV.
Will you join us at the Town & Gown fundraising dinner on Wed, November 9? Last year we sold out well before the event and anticipate doing the same again this year. Already, several tables are sold.
This special evening is for those of us who believe strongly in the mission of our university and moving forward our community. This evening, like last year, will once again inspire you as students and alumni share the impact UFV has made in their lives and, through them, the life of your community. We will be featuring our two distinguished alumni award winners who are making a big impact.
Again, a delicious dinner will be held on campus in the beautiful Student Union Building along with a number of unique, fun and even priceless silent auction experiences/items.
Don’t miss this very special evening! The proceeds from this event will go directly to the Changing Lives, Building Community Endowment, which funds scholarships for students who demonstrate superior scholastic achievement, leadership, and commitment to our community.
Seating is very limited, so please arrange for your tickets today. You can purchase tickets online or contact Sheila Reimer at 604-854-4513 or Sheila.Reimer@ufv.ca.
Your investment in our mission is critical; thank you for choosing to make a difference. We look forward to seeing you November 9.
Prospera Credit Union is the presenting sponsor for this year’s Town and Gown evening. The platinum sponsors are the Abbotsford International Airport and MNP. Silver sponsor is Esposito Group.
Sincerely,
David Leis
