Peer Resource & Leadership Centre looking for student volunteers

Can you lend a hand?

The Coast Capital Savings Peer Resource and Leadership Centre (PRLC) wants volunteers for the 2016/17 school year.

Peer leaders are committed to providing peer support, information, and referrals to the UFV community of students. Peer leaders don’t follow a certain profile — volunteers can come from all walks of life and bring different life experiences to the table. Successful peer leaders will have the following characteristics:

  • Empathetic
  • Compassionate
  • Able to quickly build relationships with new people
  • Mature
  • Committed and reliable
  • Respectful of privacy and confidentiality
  • Appreciative of diverse lifestyles and points of view
  • Flexible and open to change
  • Able to work individually as well as in a team setting
  • Able to remain calm during emergency situations.

Peer leaders are asked to commit to 4-5 hours a week for a minimum of two semesters (September to April).
