Many at UFV will be saddened to hear of the passing of Ellen Dixon, who worked here for 12 years in a number of capacities.
She passed away on March 9.
Ellen started at UFV March, 1994, as an Auxiliary Learning Assistant in Adult Special Education.
From September, 1996–June, 1997 she also worked an additional contract as Writing Centre Assistant.
She received her permanent, type “A” contract as Learning Assistant in September, 1997.
She was seconded to a Type C position of Access Advisor, Disability Resource Centre from August, 1998 – June, 2000
Permanently transferred into DRC as Access Advisor in July, 2000.
Ellen retired from UFV IN 2006
Ellen was a longtime supporter of a variety of social justice, environmental and other causes, including the Fronya Women’s Centre, the Mission Transition House, and Mission for Peace. She gave her time, support and resources generously and selflessly.
Ellen loved good food, animals, meaningful conversation, relationships, self-analysis and natural health. Where Ellen is now, it’s a sunny day; she’s wearing her favorite Tilley hat and digging in her vegetable garden with her dog and cat nearby. That would be her version of heaven.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Ellen’s favorite charities – Oxfam Canada, the David Suzuki Foundation or the World Wildlife Federation. – See her full obituary here.
