Tactical Urbanism/Placemaking Planning Studio

Interested in community planning, communication design, and place making? Home for the summer (May/June) and interested in upper-level applied professional learning opportunity/course? This course will focus on applying elements of the U-District plan to site both on campus and, potentially, off campus. The technique of Tactical Urbanism is this year’s focus, a term used to describe the creation of quick, low-cost changes to the built environment that can inspire and improve neighborhoods and gathering spaces. Gain an understanding of place making and how urban planning and design can help to communicate with communities.

Taught collaboratively by:

  • Urban and campus planners
  • Geographers
  • Graphic designers

Lectures take place in the evenings in May, with a place making project in June. For more information, and registration permission, contact Cherie Enns at cherie.enns@ufv.ca
