Abbotsford Building A and B breezeway and accessibility improvement update

The main entrance-way to Buildings A and B on the UFV Abbotsford campus is a key thoroughfare and is not currently equipped for accessibility. Planned improvements address the need for ramps and walkways to make this entrance accessible for people with disabilities.

The disruptive noise-related work on the building envelop of Building B is now complete.

Work on grading and the placement of pavers continues and it is anticipated the main doors to Building B (beneath the atrium) will be back in use on Mon, Oct 26.

Access to Building B is still possible through the Alumni Hall doors on the south side of the building.

Project overview:

This project includes excavation and building envelop repair, construction of a new accessibility ramp, new pathways from the parking lots, a new crosswalk, as well as landscaping and lighting improvements near the main entrance of the Abbotsford campus.

We expect little impact to daily programming at the Abbotsford campus and appreciate your patience and consideration as we improve accessibility to the campus.

Background:

Buildings A and B were the first two buildings constructed on the Abbotsford Campus in 1983. The main entrance-way is not currently equipped for accessibility. Improvements will address the need for ramps and walkways to make the front of UFV’s main campus accessible for people with disabilities.
