Ready and True: India and the Great War — exhibit opens Oct 23

Ready and True: India and the Great War

Oct 20–Nov 6

Through selected archival photographs, art work, and written accounts, Ready and True showcases the almost forgotten contribution of approximately 1.7 million Indian soldiers and non-combatants to the Great War. Offering an intimate glimpse into their experiences on the battlefield, at rest, and during convalescence, these remarkable images provide a visual chronicle that illustrates and commemorates their commitment, valour, and sacrifice.

A conference on India and the Great War opens on Thurs, Oct 22.

On Friday, Oct 23, there will be a formal launch of the exhibition with some light refreshments in the Visual Arts area in Abby C1401 at noon. Speakers will include Tony McCleneghan and Prabhjot Parmar (UFV English).

Everyone is welcome.
