Betrayed: Portraits of Strength — An Image Exhibition on Survivors of Human Trafficking — opening reception Sept 21

The Centre for Indo-Canadian Studies presents Portraits of Strength, an exhibition based on the photography of Tony Hoare.

Over the last three years, Vancouver photographer Tony Hoare has worked with organizations that combat human trafficking in Bangladesh, Sierra Leone, Mexico, and Canada. He has interviewed survivors of human trafficking, capturing their stories in photographs and on video. Returning home, he created an exhibition titled Betrayed: Portraits of Strength, which illustrates common strategies by which victims are lured, as well as the courage they show in planning their escape and in building new lives.

The CICS has received a grant from the Civil Forfeiture Office (CFO) in partnership with the Victim Services and Crime Prevention Division (VSCPD), Ministry of Justice in order to bring this exhibition to UFV.
