The New Science of Nutrition — How I lost 27 pounds — April 7

Dr. David Harper from the department of Kinesiology and Physical Education will be giving a talk on how the science of nutrition is undergoing a paradigm shift. The long-held conventional wisdom that low-fat diets promote good health and reduce chronic disease has not been supported by science and is now in question. Research shows us that carbohydrates, especially sugars and refined flours, may cause chronic disease and that saturated fats, long vilified, are actually beneficial.

The new science of nutrition is exploring how very low-carbohydrate, high-fat nutrition is the best for weight loss and weight management and can reduce and even reverse some chronic diseases affecting our population.

Dr. Harper will be presenting on this topic on World Health Day. The event is free and anyone can attend:
