UFV Cascades, Chilliwack Chiefs join forces to stage Winter Classic ball hockey tournament

The University of the Fraser Valley Cascades and the Chilliwack Chiefs of the B.C. Hockey League are teaming up for an exciting new community event!
The inaugural Winter Classic Outdoor Ball Hockey Tournament takes over the parking lot at the UFV Chilliwack campus (Canada Education Park, 45190 Caen Ave., Chilliwack B.C.) on Saturday, Feb 14.
The day begins with a free pancake breakfast from 9 am to 10:30 am, and the tournament starts at 10 am. There will be three different age divisions: 16 and up, 11 to 15, and 10 and under.
“We’re thrilled to partner with the Chilliwack Chiefs on this initiative, and we look forward to welcoming the public to Canada Education Park,” UFV interim athletic director Chris Bertram said. “Additionally, this event is a great opportunity to showcase our expanded campus recreation program, which is open to all UFV students, staff, faculty and alumni.”
“The Chiefs are extremely excited to be partnering with both UFV and the community of Garrison Crossing in providing a fun event for hundreds of young people, while creating awareness of the community-minded programs of both UFV and the Chiefs,” Chiefs president Glen Ringdal said.
The tournament is free to enter, and registration can be completed online at ufvcascades.ca/rec/winterclassic. Teams are to register as a group of four players, and will be joined for each game by one member of the Chiefs to make it five-on-five.
