Many people connected to UFV will be saddened to hear that Professor Edwin (Ed) Li passed away on May 27, 2014.
Ed Li was born in Hong Kong where he spent much of his childhood. He moved to England to finish his high school education. He then went on to earn his undergraduate and graduate degrees in biochemistry from Oklahoma State University and a MBA from the University of Ottawa. After his education he worked for multinational pharmaceutical firms including Johnson and Johnson, Glaxo, and Sandoz in North America, Europe, and Asia. He was responsible for establishing a successful Sino-Swiss joint venture in the People’s Republic of China.
In 1997, Ed joined UFV and taught courses in marketing, sales management, and international business. As an instructor, he had a reputation for being a tough, fair professor who demanded a high level of performance from his students. As a valued colleague in the School of Business, Ed played an instrumental role in developing and growing UFV’s Business program.
Ed was an avid tennis player and a “walking encyclopedia” on global tennis facts and trivia. He had a passion for travelling and was proud to say that he had visited over 70 countries, many of which were with his wife Liane and daughter Kaylan.
