Appeal from President Evered for Convocation volunteers

Dear Colleagues,

Our students need our help one more time!

Let’s make this 40th anniversary year extra special. As I am sure you know, June 12 and 13 are the dates for the 2014 UFV convocation ceremonies. Once again, we will host the event at the Abbotsford Centre. And once more, UFV, and especially our graduating students and their families, welcome your help making this celebration of their achievements memorable.

I’m very grateful for all the support we’ve had from so many of you previously, and hope I can count on that again.  Those who volunteer as members of Team Convocation will have their regular work day reassigned to convocation duties. As in the past, we will provide food, refreshments and a Team Convocation gift for all those who help.

The three ceremonies are:

  • Thursday, June 12 at 1:30 pm — College of Arts
  • Friday, June 13 at 9:30 am — Faculty of Professional Studies, Faculty of Access and Open Studies
  • Friday, June 13 at 2:30 pm — Faculty of Science, Faculty of Health Sciences, and Faculty of Applied and Technical Studies

There are many ways you can help make Convocation 2014, in UFV’s 40th year, the best one yet. Visit http://www.ufv.ca/convocation/teamconvo/ for descriptions of positions available. To sign up, please enter your information into the form on the web page. Positions will be filled on a first-come basis, so don’t delay if you have a preference. Please also check with your supervisor to be sure you can be excused from your regular duties prior to signing up. If you have any questions, please email auriel.heron@ufv.ca.

I look forward to working together with you on this fun but very important project.

With sincere appreciation,

Mark Evered
