Feb 19, 11 am – 12:30 pm, Abbotsford Campus, B133
Facilitator: Judy Larsen, Associate Professor, UUP
In the Fall 2012 semester, Judy Larsen designed a hybrid version of Intro to Algebra and Trigonometry (Math 084) in order to capitalize on the affordances of Blackboard Learn and other technologies by delivering course content asynchronously through a video medium. This allowed Larsen to dedicate class time for student-centered inquiry based learning practices.
In this workshop, Larsen will share her experiences with creating lesson videos, organizing them, pairing them with quizzes, and using discussion boards effectively in order to develop an engaging supplementary online environment.
The workshop will include time for discussion of pedagogical implications of asynchronous content delivery as well as possible implementation concerns.
