UFV supporting global citizens

GCG-posterA new grant has been developed to support students in becoming global citizens here at University of the Fraser Valley.

Global Citizenship Grants (GCG), a bursary of up to $500 for SUS ratified student clubs or assocations, are designed to support UFV student-led events, activities, projects, training sessions or other appropriate ventures that encourage the UFV student body to engage locally while thinking globally.

Chelsey Laird, UFV International student program facilitator, says that the GCGs will help encourage UFV students to bring ideas about global issues to the UFV community.

“Global citizenship is the ability to translate local issues globally, and global issues locally. It is the hope that this grant will encourage students to bring an issue or idea that tehy are passionate about to the forefront.”

The Global Citizenship Grants will be a great way for students to work together in leadership positions, learning a range of skills. From event planning to intercultural communication.

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis throughout the semester. Representatives from UFV International, UFV Student Life and SUS will assess applications.
