Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women

UFV students, staff, faculty and friends,

It is with deep sadness that we recall the 13 students and one staff member who lost their lives on this day 24 years ago at L’Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal.

British Columbia has proclaimed December 6 as the Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. The UFV Board of Governors and Senate observed a moment of silence at their respective meetings yesterday and today.

The safety of women is a commitment to be shared by each and every one of us. On this day, please reflect on the role and obligation we all have to support a safe environment for women here at UFV, in our communities, and in our families.
