President Mark Evered invites all members of the UFV community to attend a budget forum for a presentation on the 2014/15 budget preliminary position and environmental scan. This will be an opportunity to understand the budget process, the key drivers to building the budget, and the principles that guide budget decisions.
With the 2014/15 budget planning process underway, the current BC government message remains focused on cost containment, fiscal discipline, and balanced budgets. Provincial funding to the post-secondary sector will be reduced by $50M over the three-year period, 2013/14–2015/16. At the same time, the cost of delivering high-quality post-secondary education continues to rise.
Given reduced grant funding, inflationary costs, and tuition limits, we are faced with a tough budget environment over the next couple of years. We face challenging times and tough decisions.
The Abbotsford forum occurred Monday morning. The remaining forum is Tuesday in Chilliwack.
Chilliwack:
Tues, Nov 5
9:30–10:30 am
Room A2428
The forum will be captured on video for those unable to attend.
