Recycle My Cell Challenge

UFV is taking part in the fourth annual Recycle My Cell Challenge taking place in schools across Canada. The challenge runs from Oct 21- Nov 22 and encourages students and employees to recycle their old, unused, or broken cell phones, smartphones, wireless PDAs, pagers, batteries and accessories. There are prizes available to the school that comes out on top in each province at the end of the challenge.

Recycle My Cell is a national industry initiative led by the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association and along with its members (which include wireless manufactures and service providers) they aim to raise awareness about mobile device recycling. The ultimate goal of the program is to minimize the number of handsets entering landfills across Canada and reduce the harmful effects they can have on the environment.

UFV is ready to show the rest of British Columbia how much we care about the environment and that we have what it takes to come out on top. So please bring in your old cellphones, cell accessories and anything else cell related to one of two drop-off locations listed below and let’s get recycling! Note to employees: Personal devices only
