Janet Antonio joins UFV as Director, Relationship and Fund Development

Janet Antonio will be the new Director, Relationship and Fund Development at the University of the Fraser Valley starting August 6.

Janet joins UFV from the Metro Vancouver Regional Parks Foundation and CTS Youth Society, where she served as executive director.

She brings over 20 years of broad-based fundraising experience, including major gifts and legacy giving, and for a variety of charitable organizations, including almost a decade in post-secondary with Simon Fraser University (SFU), and the BC Institute of Technology (BCIT).

An SFU grad, with a BA in applied science majoring in communications and minoring in psychology, Janet also completed a certificate in new media and web development at BCIT.

At UFV, Janet will be responsible for driving the implementation of a strategic fundraising program that includes annual appeals, sponsorship, major and principal giving, and planned giving from corporations, foundations, and individual donors. Janet will mentor and lead a maturing team of relationship builders and fundraising professionals within UFV’s broader Community Engagement portfolio. Her work supports UFV’s strategic priorities, including student awards, education programs, capital projects, and research and innovation initiatives.

Janet will represent UFV on volunteer boards and committees and attend community, networking, and business events to build the university’s profile and cultivate relationships with key community partners.

“With over 10 years of experience managing and mentoring teams that generate annual revenues up to $9 million, Janet has proven her capability to lead and inspire others,” says Susan Mide Kiss, UFV’s Vice-President, Community Engagement. “Her extensive experience working with senior-level boards and committees will be invaluable in developing relationships and garnering support from partners as we honour the past, celebrate the present, and co-create the future 50 years forward.”

Janet begins her new role at UFV after the August long weekend and she’s excited to start.

“I am arriving at UFV at an exciting time as the university celebrates it’s 50th anniversary, and I look forward to playing a role in the university’s growth as we collectively look toward the next 50 years,” she says. “The future is bright, and I am excited to contribute to the UFV and broader community.”
