BC minimum wage increase — June 1, 2018

As you may be aware, the Government of BC will be increasing the minimum wage rate to $12.65 per hour effective June 1, 2018. Please visit the BC Government webpage for more information: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/minimum-wage/information-for-employers

If you have submitted student contracts to Human Resources that begin before June 1, 2018, the hourly wage originally noted on the Request for Contract form will remain the same until June 1, 2018. If, on this date, the hourly wage is lower than the new minimum wage amount of $12.65 per hour, Payroll will automatically increase the student workers hourly rate to the new minimum wage rate. Your department does not need to take any action in this regard.

When submitting student Request for Contract forms that begin on or after June 1, 2018, please ensure the new provincial minimum wage of $12.65 per hour is noted thereon.
