What do I need to know?
The Great British Columbia ShakeOut earthquake drill runs today, Thursday, October 19 at 10:19 am.
What do I need to do?
Register for UFV Alert, then at 10:19am:
- Drop to the ground
- Cover under a table or desk
- Hold On for 60 seconds.
Why?
This is a worldwide initiative that helps people practice earthquake preparedness.
UFV also practices using our suite of emergency communication channels during ShakeOut.
What if I’m not able to drop to the ground?
If you have difficulty getting onto the ground, or cannot get back up again without help, consider following the recommendations listed here.
Will the public address system be activated on the Abbotsford and Chilliwack campuses?
Yes, at the start and end of the drill in those buildings that have a public address system.
Do I need to evacuate?
No.
