Amendments to Winter semester dates

With the delay to the start of the Winter semester, UFV will now end the term on Thursday, April 14. Courses meeting Monday through Thursday will have a day of instruction added to the last week of the term. Courses that meet only on Fridays or Saturdays will have their last meeting on Friday, April 8 or Saturday, April 9, respectively.

Remote learning (January 10 to 23):

Between January 10 and January 23, students and teaching faculty should use the class meeting times already scheduled. During this period, professors should let students know if a scheduled class meeting will be conducted remotely through video link, or through other means of instruction.

Reading week:

Winter reading week will continue as scheduled from February 20 to 27.

Final exams:Final exams will now begin on Tuesday, April 19. The length of the exam period will be determined at the regular meeting of Senate on Friday, January 21. Until the last day of exams has been set by Senate, students and faculty should ensure they are available until the end of the day, Friday, April 29.

UFV staff members are working on adjusting dates in the student information system to reflect the change in term start and end dates so they accurately reflect student and faculty schedules.

A few programs requiring face-to-face learning have begun instruction this week (January 4 to 8) and affected students have been contacted. Please instruct students to watch their UFV email and check notices on MyClass (Blackboard) to keep current with course announcements.

Programs using a schedule separate from the regular semester will inform students once revised dates have been finalized.

Thank you for your assistance and patience as we navigate this latest adaptation caused by the pandemic response.

Sincerely,

David Johnston
