All UFV campuses are OPEN on Tuesday, Feb 4. All classes and activities will proceed as scheduled.
Allow extra time for commuting due to winter road conditions and use caution when travelling to, and around, UFV.
Drive BC has highway cameras and current information on road conditions.
Check the Student Union Facebook page for Student Union Shuttle updates.
Be prepared for cold temperatures and watch for snow clearing equipment.
Please check ufv.ca for updates.
I drive in from South Surrey for an evening class. I’m fairly certain the roads will be dangerous at 8:30-9 pm when I’m returning home.
Thanks for reaching out, Erin.
We’ve been monitoring the weather throughout the day, looking at a variety of factors, including:
o Environment Canada warnings and forecasts
o RCMP road advisories
o Drive BC reports
If you don’t feel comfortable or safe driving, please contact your instructor and share your concerns.
Hey,
Would the evening classes be on tonight? I believe on the weather forecast it’s supposed to get bit worse latet. Will there be another update perhaps at 5pm tonight?
Hi, all campuses and classes are open and proceeding as scheduled. If you don’t feel comfortable or safe driving, please contact your instructor.
Hi! Will there be any more updates for classes tonight? The conditions have worsened and the roads to ufv are dangerous.
Hi Amy,
All classes and activities at UFV are proceeding as scheduled. There will not be any further updates this evening. When making your personal decision to drive, please evaluate the road conditions and the weather. If you have done so, and you do not think you can safely get to UFV then please contact your instructor to inform them of your decision.
Will the next update be at 5am like usual?
Hi M,
As the weather events ends this evening and transitions to rain there will not be any further updates. UFV is planning to be open tomorrow Wed., Feb 5 for all scheduled activities and classes.
This is kinda getting out of hand now, there are cars without winter tires and people driving recklessly on the inner roads and the highway. Student lives are at risk here. There needs to be a 6pm update. I appreciate all the work you do for us but please do update on the hour.
Hi Ross,
When making your personal decision to drive, please evaluate the road conditions and the weather. If you have evaluated road conditions and weather and you do not think you can safely get to UFV then please contact your instructor to inform them of your decision. Allow extra time for commuting due to winter road conditions and use caution when travelling to, and around, UFV.
Im sorry guys, but grow up a bit please. Roads are fine. People drive aggressively all year round. The world does not revolve around you. Your an adult, if you don’t feel comfortable driving, don’t. There’s more than one way to commute to UFV.
Amen to this statement! Holy Toledo.
Common Sense prevails, Discretion prevails – yes 🙂
Students in an education institution should be all grown up now indeed.
And how does this work if u are out of town and work in food services at ufv and need to be at work at 530 am and updates aren’t til 6 am?
Hi there,
Please contact your supervisor and ask about the protocol for your area. A committee starts evaluating the data (gathered all night long) regarding conditions at all campuses, roads, weather, forecasts, on the ground reports at 0400. 5:45am is the earliest we can use the latest data and get messaging out to all.
