All UFV campuses and centres are CLOSED and all classes and activities are cancelled for today, Wednesday, January 15, 2020. UFV will also remain closed for all evening classes (4:00pm onwards).
Treacherous driving conditions, snow accumulations on campuses, and blowing snow advisories across the region dictate a closure of all campuses.
Please check ufv.ca for updates.
Stay safe and stay off the roads today!
Phew!! Thank you!! It’s mayhem out there!!
Your doing awesome Dave great job

Haven’t got any mail from our professors. Any idea by when we’ll get an update about today’s classes?
Hi Kabir,
Please see the message above. As stated: all classes and activities are CANCELLED. UFV is CLOSED due to severe weather.
Best place to check for updates is UFV itself π Even professors and instructors rely on UFV, thanks Dave.
Bookkeeping Instructor
Thanks Linda. We will provide information and open closed status, but ultimately it is up to the individual to make the right decision for their own safety regarding driving.
Stay safe. Teach hard and balance those books! π
P.S. sign up for ufv alert – see the side panel for info ===>
Indeed Dave, common sense should always prevail.
Balancing those books? You bet, its my thing! π I can’t fix ’em roads, but I sure can fix ’em books.
Are all classes cancelled or only the classes after 4:00 pm?
Closed ALL classes ALL day and ALL evening. You’ve seen the weather outside, right?
Are they closed for the whole week?
Kiran.
No idea at this time. The weather changes and so we work hard to take a number of factors into consideration: roads, Environment Canada forecasts, warnings from RCMP, road cameras, on campus reports, ability to clear snow, building conditions, etc. It all adds up to safety on and off campus for our University community. We will update each morning at 0545am or if conditions change dramatically throughout the day. I just can’t predict it. If I could, I’d be on TV – or rich. Or both.
It says that the evening classes are cancelled, do we have classes in morning?
Closed ALL classes ALL day and ALL evening cancelled.
Nope. As stated above, no classes anytime today or tonight. None. Zero. Nada.
Does nobody read before they ask a question? ALL CLASSES ALL DAY TODAY ARE CANCELLED AT UFV CAMPUSES.
Thank you, Megan, thank you.
I have to change my courses and for that I need to meet the registrar before my third class. Can you tell us how long will it go?
Sorry Risham. UFV is closed today. So unless you can try and do this online then it will have to wait until we reopen. And we do not know when. No staff is at work until we reopen. Check UFV.ca for updates. The latest we will update for tomorrow is 5:45 am tomorrow.
My class is at 7 pm. You posted that classes 5 pm onwards are cancel. My class is cancelled to or I have to come?
Sam,
ALL classes are cancelled for Wed. Jan 15. Including all morning, afternoon, evening classes. Please check ufv.ca for updates on tomorrow. We will make the open or closed decision by 5:45am tomorrow morning.
Seriously people, nothing is open! Do you seriously think that profs and staff will be going to ufv in these conditions when the Abby police said to not go out!
So school is going to be open after 4PM? My class at 6PM I can go to class? Iβm very behind I needa class today
Hi Rajinder,
I hope the message above is clear but just in case it is not: No. Zero classes today, this afternoon, or tonight. Do not go to UFV. It is closed. We will update status for tomorrow morning at 5:45am tomorrow morning, Thursday Jan 16. Check UFV.ca. Thanks.
Dave Clinton you are doing great job!!!
Thanks Savi. So are you π Also my last name is Pinton. No relation to Bill Clinton. π
So, is like campus open, or…?
Good one, Johnny or is it Graham. Good one.
Please also take into consideration the road conditions for us…the shuttle drivers…ventured out once today and it’s an ice rink in Chilliwack. Safety first. I also agree Dave, you are doing a great job/service…stay safe everyone.
Thanks Keith.
Yes – everyone needs to stay safe. We watch the road conditions closely. Web cams, firsthand reports, RCMP advisories, etc. Tough conditions and people who have to drive for a living are pros. That’s for sure.
Hi Dave, you are doing a great job with people who clearly canβt read.
Honestly everyone, we are all way behind in classes but have to understand that school is closed. Please read and stop asking Dave the same question over and over again, we are all annoyed by it. If the conditions were fine, we would have been going today, end of story!! So, stop annoying Dave and the rest of us with questions unless they are actually legitimate!
Thanks E! You’re doing good work here too. π You’re right, reading is important, or so I hear, but it’s fine. I’m here to help and inform on a snow day. Can’t always keep up but today I can. Stay warm, stay safe and tune in tomorrow to UFV.ca around 0545am for more updates to snow-scape 2020.
Hi Dave! You are doing a such a great job keeping everyone updated and having so much patience responding to some of these people that canβt read something that clear. π
Dave, you are literally the best! Hopefully when class is back in session we can all benefit from a quick reading lesson! Stay safe everybody and exercise caution. π
Do we have any idea what the decision is going to be tomorrow with the way the roads are? Iβve found a lot of Chilliwack students have been having a hard time getting to the Abbotsford campus even when itβs open.
Hi Bryson,
At this time no decision on tomorrow as data will be collected overnight. We will update Campus status at 5:45am tomorrow Thurs. Jan 16.
Please check ufv.ca tomorrow.
Thanks again for keeping us all updated and putting the safety of students and staff first! π
My pleasure. Keep warm and stay safe. And study. Don’t forget to study. We can’t depend on snow days!
Seriously, this conversation is the highlight of my snow day! Thanks Dave. Maybe they are getting you back for that exam parking video…
I have no idea what you’re talking about Debi. π
I send a comment and it disappears
Hi Jason,
These comments are moderated, and not 24/7 so I did not release it until now. Also – increased site traffic crushed this blog today so sorry for the delayed response. Always check UFV.ca for updates.
