Metro Vancouver transit shutdown update — Carvolth/Bourquin exchanges

A labour-related Metro Vancouver transit shutdown has been scheduled between Wed Nov 27 – Friday Nov 29.

All UFV classes and activities at all campuses will continue as scheduled under normal operating hours and all students, faculty, and staff are expected to attend.

Fraser Valley transit:

BC Transit is indicating transit service in Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Mission, and the Eastern Fraser Valley will not be directly impacted by this strike action – with the possible exception of the Fraser Valley Express providing service from Chilliwack and Abbotsford into Metro Vancouver.

In the event of labour action that directly affects the Langley Carvolth Exchange or the Translink bus routes that service the exchange, the Fraser Valley Express will terminate service at the Highstreet Shopping Centre Exchange in Abbotsford, but add in a stop and pick up at the Bourquin Exchange allowing customers to connect to other areas.

On the trip into Abbotsford, the route will stop at Bourquin Exchange before terminating at Highstreet, and on the trip out of Abbotsford the route will start at Bourquin Exchange before going to Highstreet.

Please check BC Transit for more information and alerts on your route.

Longer Commutes:

If you rely on Metro Vancouver transit provided by the Coast Mountain Bus Company for part of your commute from Metro Vancouver to UFV, please allow for longer commuting times.

UFV students:

Please contact your instructor if you are concerned about potentially arriving late for classes or missing classes.

UFV faculty and staff:

Please ensure that alternate plans are made to travel to UFV in a timely manner.

Increased traffic:

UFV campuses may experience an increase in car traffic which will impact parking lots and drop-off zones. Thank you for your patience during this time and UFV is currently exploring additional overflow parking options.

Carpooling, car sharing, and drop-off/pick-up

You may want to explore sharing a ride with other students or colleagues, or by using online car pool share providers.

If you are being dropped off or picked up at UFV, please ensure you plan your locations in advance.

Further updates will be posted to ufv.ca and shared over UFV’s social media.
