Update: Feb 4 6:15 am – UFV open under winter weather conditions

Environment Canada has cancelled the snowfall warning for the Fraser Valley however an arctic outflow warning is still in effect.

All UFV campuses are open Monday, February 4 and all classes and activities are proceeding as scheduled under winter conditions.

Exercise judgement when deciding to travel: safety should always be your main priority. Please allow extra time when travelling to and around UFV campuses and be aware that conditions may change during your time on campus.

Please be prepared for unusually cold temperatures for our region and strong winds. Warm winter clothing and footwear are necessary.

The campus shuttle bus will be operating on its regular schedule.

UFV Risk and Safety, Facilities, Student Services, Communications, and other departments continue to monitor the weather and will update this page, social media, other communication channels, and the UFV.ca home page should the weather situation change.

  1. There’s people coming from all over the Fraser valley and lower mainland, even hope and further. leaving school open during this kind of extreme weather is endangering students. A large majority of the students are under the age of 20 and have absolutely been no expierence driving through icy terrain. Keeping the university open only forces students to drive to not miss classes, therefore endangering themselves.

    • Thanks for your comment Thomas. I understand and am commuting from the top end of the valley myself. As always, your safety should be your main priority so please use your judgement when deciding to travel.
UFV will be open today, Monday Feb. 4 under winter conditions. We are monitoring the weather including Environment Canada updates and warnings, RCMP and Abbotsford Police warnings and updates through the Lower mainland and the valley, and are in contact with the school districts. We monitor driving conditions, road reports, highway cameras, and on the ground conditions at all of our campuses. If the situation changes we will post here, on social media, and other UFV communication channels.
