We’ve had beautiful weather so far this spring, and it seems pretty normal when you look out the window, but we all know that things are far from normal as we continue to observe the rules of social distancing in and effort to put this pandemic behind us. COVID-19: Strategies for Managing Stress
The challenges and uncertainty surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic can be overwhelming: social isolation, worry over family and friends, concern for our own well-being, and changes to work and home routines are all substantial stressors around circumstances we may feel we have little control over. But there are effective techniques that can help to bring us back to equilibrium. This session will explore all aspects of the stress response, focusing on practical tips and tools to bring us to optimal stress levels, thereby helping us to maximize our energy and performance in the face of COVID-19.

Understanding the Impact of COVID-19 on your Mental Health: Supporting Yourself and Others Through COVID
COVID-19 poses unique challenges for all individuals. For those who experience common mental health challenges including anxiety and depression, the pandemic may exacerbate these issues. The uncertainty, social isolation and sometimes sudden and unexpected changes to normal routines, changes in relationships, work and home environments, can be additional triggers and especially difficult to manage. In the face of a pandemic like COVID-19, it is more important than ever to exercise vigilance around our mental well-being and the mental health of those around us.
Presented by Homewood’s Dr. Sandra Primiano, this session will help participants understand typical reactions and equip them with strategies for regulating their emotions, as well as providing tips to support others who may be experiencing difficulties given the unique challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. UFV Teaching & Learning – Educators Journey to Reconciliation
During our two days together, we will go through a journey to discover challenges and best practices in decolonizing the classroom and, our education practice. We will explore strategies for creating a culturally safe learning environment and indigenizing through reconciling Indigenous worldviews, ways of knowing and being while we Indigenize our teaching practice and curriculum. We will practice reciprocity, respect, responsibility, and relevance throughout our journey together.

UFA Teaching & Learning – Weaving Knowledge Systems – Online Synchronous Sessions
Weaving Knowledge Systems (formerly Indigenizing the Curriculum) is a two-day workshop that provides you with hands-on experience and resources that will bring together Indigenous and Western worldviews based on your subject area. We will explore experiential activities to weave cultural safety/humility, Indigenous Ways of knowing and being, Indigenous worldviews, into your course(s)/practice. Bring at least one course syllabi, lesson plan(s), any resources etc., and a laptop/tablet.
**This workshop is designed for those who have previously completed a course/workshop on Decolonization and Reconciliation. Priority will be given to those who have completed the Educator’s Journey Towards Reconciliation. If you have completed a different course/workshop, please contact Lorna Andrews directly for permission to register for this workshop.
