{"id":1710,"date":"2022-02-11T10:30:49","date_gmt":"2022-02-11T18:30:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/ufv-at-work\/?p=1710"},"modified":"2022-03-13T17:53:58","modified_gmt":"2022-03-14T00:53:58","slug":"ufv-is-one-of-bcs-top-employers-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/ufv-at-work\/2022\/02\/11\/ufv-is-one-of-bcs-top-employers-again\/","title":{"rendered":"UFV is One of BC&#8217;s Top Employers &#8212; Again!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1712 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/ufv-at-work\/files\/2022\/02\/2022-top-employer-300x164.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"348\" height=\"190\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/ufv-at-work\/files\/2022\/02\/2022-top-employer-300x164.jpg 300w, https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/ufv-at-work\/files\/2022\/02\/2022-top-employer.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/>The University of the Fraser Valley has once again been named one of BC\u2019s Top Employers.\u00a0 This marks the eighth straight year that UFV has been selected.<\/p>\n<p>BC\u2019s Top Employers is a competition that recognizes employers in British Columbia that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Pearson, UFV\u2019s Manager, Recruitment Services, says that throughout two years of the pandemic, UFV has continued to focus on creating a positive work environment that will attract and retain excellent faculty and staff members.<\/p>\n<p>This includes helping employees transition back to working on campus after an extended period of home-based work; the launch of a hybrid remote work pilot program that lets participating staff members continue to work from home part time; launching Strive to Thrive, a revival of the employee fitness challenge retooled for a hybrid setting; and the creation of UFV at Work, a blog focused on human resources news and events.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also saw a lot of employees and departments really \u2018pull together\u2019 during the challenge of the pandemic to keep a sense of unity and community while we were physically apart,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Reasons cited by the judges why <strong>UFV<\/strong> was selected as one of BC&#8217;s Top Employers (2022) include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>As part of the university&#8217;s flexible benefits plan, UFV employees receive a $1,000 health spending account that can be used to cover additional medical or dental expenses or transferred to their personal registered savings accounts<\/li>\n<li>UFV supports employees through various stages of life, from maternity and parental leave top-up payments for parents-to-be, to flexible work options to help balance personal and family commitments, to phased-in retirement work options for those in the later stages of their career<\/li>\n<li>UFV recognizes exceptional performance and achievement through internal awards for a variety of categories, including community service, research and teaching excellence, employee excellence, and long-service.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The University of the Fraser Valley has once again been named one of BC\u2019s Top Employers.\u00a0 This marks the eighth straight year that UFV has been selected.
