For example, a\u00a0few times while teaching many classes, I brought\u00a0the wrong material to a class which quickly threw\u00a0me out of my comfort zone. But, after\u00a0recovering from\u00a0the\u00a0initial shock with\u00a0a\u00a0forced\u00a0&#8220;I&#8217;m in control&#8221;\u00a0smile\u00a0on my face, they\u00a0turned out to be some\u00a0of the most dynamic and exciting classes!<\/p>\n<p>Thoughts that keep us well within our comfort zone might be: What kind of magic can we expect to happen outside of our zone?\u00a0Isn&#8217;t my comfort zone magical enough?\u00a0What lies in the other areas outside of my zone and where the magic happens, perhaps the flop zone?<\/p>\n<p>With the quickly shifting world of higher learning, we are being forced out of our comfort zone whether we like it or not forgetting that magic may await.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s throw some questions out to get some ideas of what lies just beyond us. Post an experience on one of the\u00a0following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>What magic did you find outside of your teaching comfort zone?<\/li>\n<li>What was the worst that happened in the unknown that lies outside the comfort and magic zones?<\/li>\n<li>Share the magic: What activity do you have that tends to\u00a0always engage\u00a0everyone?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Next semester, how about (re)visiting the <a href=\"https:\/\/ufv.ca\/tlc\/events\/\">Teaching and Learning Centre\u00a0<\/a>and\/or <a href=\"https:\/\/ufv.ca\/tlc\/tech-buddies\/\">signing up for a Tech Buddy<\/a>?
