The package is the result of tight collaboration between Victoria Surtees, the TLC’s Internationalization Specialist, Karla Hiltermann and Paula Mannington of Archway Community Services, and Mike Mutter and Carolyn MacLaren of UFV Continuing Education. It was funded by a BCTEAL Charitable Foundation Award. The materials are designed to support newcomers with intermediate levels of English who are seeking to complete an Emergency First Aid certificate. Drawing on trauma-informed principles, the curriculum builds in mindfulness, outdoor activities, reflective exercises, and community-building. With 8 lessons, an instructor guide, and 36 hours of activities, the package gives participants the language and cultural context they need to complete the 1-day course successfully and with confidence.

Are you looking to create meaningful collaborations around pedagogical projects?
