{"id":1500,"date":"2023-03-02T16:12:09","date_gmt":"2023-03-02T16:12:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/tlc\/?p=1500"},"modified":"2023-03-06T16:32:42","modified_gmt":"2023-03-06T16:32:42","slug":"open-education-talks-2023-march-1st-information-and-resources","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/tlc\/2023\/03\/02\/open-education-talks-2023-march-1st-information-and-resources\/","title":{"rendered":"OPEN EDUCATION TALKS 2023 &#8211; March 1st Information and resources"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/tlc\/files\/2023\/03\/open-ed.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1501 alignnone\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/tlc\/files\/2023\/03\/open-ed.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"611\" height=\"346\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/tlc\/files\/2023\/03\/open-ed.jpg 611w, https:\/\/blogs.ufv.ca\/tlc\/files\/2023\/03\/open-ed-300x170.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 611px) 100vw, 611px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>OPEN EDUCATION TALKS 2023 \u2013 \u201cHarnessing the power of students in open education at the University of the Fraser Valley\u201d by Janelle Sztuhar, Ashley McDougall and Claire Hay<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday March 1<sup>st<\/sup> 2023, Claire Hay alongside Janelle Sztuhar (UFV Library) and Ashley McDougall (VP External, UFV Student Union Society) presented a lightning talk as part of the Open Education Talks 2023 series (<a href=\"https:\/\/oetalks.opened.ca\/\">https:\/\/oetalks.opened.ca\/<\/a>). \u00a0Their talk focused on the important role students play in open education initiatives at UFV.\u00a0 We talked about the advocacy work of UFV SUS in building awareness among the student population on the role of open education resources to support learning.\u00a0 As Ashley noted in the presentation, very few students know about open education resources and how it can support learning if used in courses.
