Various roles in a 5-year initiative – Department of Opportunities and Social Development, Nova Scotia

Job Opportunities in Disability Support Program

The Nova Scotia Human Rights Remedy is a transformative five-year initiative focused on addressing systemic discrimination experienced by persons with disabilities across the province. As part of this important work, the Disability Support Program (DSP) is growing its team.

We’re looking to hire Local Area Coordinators, Intensive Planning and Support Coordinators and Eligibility, Funding and Assessment Coordinators to support our work.

“As a Local Area Coordinator I walk alongside people, offering support, connection and respect. It is as much about community as it is service.”

When you join the Disability Support Program, you’ll work alongside individuals with disabilities, including those with complex needs, and their families to support them in planning and living their version of a good life. Whether it’s assisting someone in transitioning to community living, building natural support networks, or assessing funding and eligibility, these roles are grounded in building strong, trusted relationships and truly understanding each person’s unique goals and needs.

You’ll partner with local communities, natural supports, clinical services, and other support networks to create inclusive, sustainable pathways for people to thrive in their own communities. These are dynamic, community-based roles where you’ll help turn aspirations into action, fostering welcoming environments where everyone belongs.

“In my position as an Intensive Planning and Support Coordinator I have had the opportunity to meet new people, engage within communities and build meaningful and supportive relationships with individuals. It is a privilege to work alongside individuals as they discover their interests, strengths and build confidence in themselves to imagine a better tomorrow.”

These roles are full-time, with a nine to five work day, and come with the stability and benefits of provincial government employment. You’ll work as part of a collaborative, supportive team with access to ongoing training, professional development and the global LAC/IPSC network. With low caseload numbers and opportunities available in both rural and urban areas across the province, you’ll be supported to build strong relationships and make a meaningful impact in the lives of persons with disabilities.
