CAMP ADMIN SUPPORT

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Fraser Valley is now accepting preliminary applications for positions under the 2025 Canada Summer Jobs Program.

(Positions are pending approval of funding by the Government of Canada)

Position:                      Camp Admin Support (Temporary- Canada Summer Jobs Program)
Reports to:                  Team Lead West
Start & End Date:        TBD (between 8-9 weeks from Middle of May – Middle of July)
Hours:                         30-35 hours per week (day-time hours/some evening & weekend hours will be required)
Locations:                   1 position in Abbotsford

General Description

This position will:  Provide administrative support in a variety of areas, including registration and assisting with camp administrative tasks as required, camp preparation while working within a budget, as well as helping with summer camp activities. Requires good organizational skills, computer experience, and knowledge of popular computer programs including Word and Excel. Will represent Big Brothers Big Sisters in all events.

Camp Admin

  • Answer phone calls and emails from parents, staff, and vendors.
  • Maintain and organize camp records, files, and documentation.
  • Prepare and distribute schedules, rosters, and other camp materials.
  • Process camper registrations, waivers, and medical forms.
  • Maintain attendance records for campers and staff.
  • Relay important information between camp staff, directors, and families.
  • Order and manage camp supplies, ensuring inventory is stocked.
  • Process expense reports and receipts for camp operations.
  • Help organize special events, field trips, or guest speakers.
  • Prepare materials and resources for camp activities.

General Summer Duties

  • coordinate and facilitate group activities with mentors, mentees and families.
  • approach local businesses to secure donations for summer events and activities.
  • participate in the planning of various outings, events, fundraisers and activities as needed.
  • participate in public events for the purpose of recruiting and raising awareness of our agency.
  • complete administrative program tasks such as reporting writing, creating event flyers and brochures.

Qualifications

  • educational focus in social services: Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Crim, Psych, Education etc.
  • experience working with youth;
  • or an equivalent combination of each

Skills

  • strong written and oral communication skills
  • computer proficiency: working knowledge of Microsoft systems (word/excel), client-records systems, and Canva design

Requirements (*Canada Summer Jobs Program requirements)

  • be between 19 and 30 years of age at the start of employment*
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment*
  • have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada*
  • current class 5 drivers’ license (unrestricted) and acceptable Driver’s Abstract
  • clear Criminal Records Check

Remuneration

Starting rate: $19.00/hour + 4% vacation pay
