Child and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) Generalist
$39.3000 – $47.4516 hourly which includes a 1 Grid Temporary Market Adjustment*

The Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) team is a dedicated group of professionals committed to making a positive impact on the lives of children, youth and families in our communities. This team comprises multiple child and family service workers and is supported by a social program officer assistant and a team assistant. The team provides service across the West Kootenays, so travel may be required, but the rewards of helping others make it all worthwhile.

As a Children and Youth with Special Needs (CYSN) Generalist, you will provide essential family support and guardianship services, working closely with service providers, community partners and foster parents. You’ll facilitate assessments and planning for families who qualify for Children and Youth with Support Needs (CYSN) services, helping them access the support they need. Your collaboration ensures high-quality services and compliance with contracts, directly impacting the lives of children and families in the community. You’ll make meaningful decisions based on assessments and build lasting relationships with clients, all while being part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications for this role include:

1. Preferred Credentials:
• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care OR Master’s Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare OR
• In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) OR
• A candidate may be considered equivalent when they are registered and a member in good standing with the BC College of Social Workers or has a letter from the College confirming that their application for registration has been approved.

2. Expanded Credentials:
• Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field OR Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field OR Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field AFTER the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
• PLUS, a minimum of one year of related OR job-specific work experience.
• Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Human Services fields include: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.
