Duties & Responsibilities:
The primary function of this position is to provide meaningful, personalized support for individuals in their home and community. Successful applicants will be physically capable of performing safe transferring techniques and participating in all aspects of recreation and leisure activities (e.g. swimming).
Qualifications & Experience:
Have relevant post-secondary education and/or experience in supporting individuals with
varying degrees of developmental and physical disabilities, including tube feeding, diabetes,
autism and understanding behaviour plans.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of current issues and practices, human values in
delivery of service, and a strong ability to plan and work independently while actively
involving individuals in this process.
A positive and pleasant work attitude, effective communication skills and the ability to
relate positively to the public are essential.
Must possess a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License and be willing to obtain a valid BC Class 4
Driver’s License (Class 7 Driver’s licenses may be accepted), First Aid/CPR Certification,
Caring About Food Safety, and be able to meet all other CSCL employment criteria (i.e.
Criminal Record Check clearance, Doctor’s Certificate of Good Health, etc.)
On Call – Casual; Must be available for shifts including days, evenings and weekends. Casual hours
are available with the possibility of leading to part-time or full-time positions.
Casual employees must be available for a minimum of three (3) shifts per week. At least one (1)
shift must be on Saturday or Sunday, and at least one (1) shift must be overnight (Overnight shifts
As per Community Social Services Collective Agreement ($20.52 – $23.90 per hour).
