Case Manager (Part-time) @ Jewish Family Services

Position Summary
Jewish Family Services (JFS) seeks an experienced person with a background in social work to work with clients requiring emergency and ongoing assistance, clinical case management and advocacy. This position is 28 hours per week.

JFS has been enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families in the Lower Mainland for over 80 years. The organization delivers a range of social service programs (i.e. counseling, financial aid, senior care, family services, employment support and settlement) to the Jewish and non-­‐Jewish communities throughout the Lower Mainland

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with applications for:

  • Income Assistance
  • Child tax benefits
  • Canada Pension Plan
  • Other government benefit application
  • Provide information, referrals, and support in accessing JFS and other community resources
  • Assist with completion of forms, applications, letters, and appeal documents
  • Assist with problem solving
  • Support clients in self-­‐advocac

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Social Work, Psychology or equivalent degree/experience
• Minimum of three years’ experience working directly with clients in a supportive and/or counselling capacity
• Excellent listening skills
• Experience with clinical case management with particular expertise working with clients living with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, PTSD and other concerns
• Familiarity with governmental, Jewish and general community resources

  • Experience advocating for clients in the areas of:
    o Assistance for individuals and families living on limited income
    o Poverty/Underemployment/Unemployment
    o Government financial assistance programs and pensions
    o Disabilities
    o Domestic violence
    o Addiction
  • Child protection

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
• Ability to prepare written reports, as requested
• Positive and flexible attitude at the work site
• Ability to adapt to a fast-­‐paced and challenging environment
• Knowledge of Jewish culture and traditions
• Russian language is an asset

Compensation
This is a part-­‐time position – 28 hours per week. Salary is commensurate with experience.
