YWCA Youth Education Programs – Seeking Volunteers

The YWCA Youth Education Programs are seeking volunteers for our upcoming Fall term and we would appreciate your help in getting the word out. Would you be able to pass on this volunteer opportunity to professors or other staff to be distributed to students?

Our program facilitators lead our after-school programs which support Grade 7 students in the transition to high school. The program is 10 weeks long and each week we focus on different topics such as healthy friendships, peer pressure, social media smarts, conflict resolution, gender stereotypes, and more.

By volunteering with our program, students will gain facilitation and teamwork skills and be trained in classroom management, as well as broaden their personal and professional networks through our inter-generational volunteer teams.

The Youth Education Programs make a difference in the lives of Grade 7s by supporting their development of the knowledge, skills, and self-confidence they need to make a smooth transition to high school.

More information about our programs as well as our online application can be found at www.ywcavan.org/youth – apply soon, schools fill up fast!
