BC Job Title: Peers Reaching Out (PRO) Coordinator

Reports To: Director of Community Support Programs

Location: Community Support Program Office

Hours of work: 37.5 hrs a week

Summary of Role:

Primary Accountability:

The Peers Reaching Out (PRO) Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the Seniors Come Share Society PRO Program. The PRO- Coordinator will have a pivotal role in the development, implementation and evaluation of this program. As members of a community-based organization, all Seniors Come Share Community Support staff must demonstrate a commitment to the principles of:

Organizational Accountability:

The Seniors Come Share Society has been dedicated to supporting seniors and their families in the Cities of Surrey and White Rock since 1976. Our outreach has resulted in a dramatic increase of individuals benefiting from our services year after year.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development, implementation and evaluation of PRO program;
  • Ensure the PRO program is reaching socially isolated and disengaged seniors in the South Surrey and White Rock area;
  • Develop program policies and procedures, manuals, training materials and evaluation and measurement tools;
  • Carry out initial client assessment and develop clients optimized living plan;
  • Accurately maintain all client records;
  • Maintain appropriate records for evaluation, funders’ and organizational requirements;
  • Foster partnerships, establishing networks with other service providers serving the targeted population group and advisory committees;
  • Liaison with other sites and community partners to create opportunities for community involvement, including sourcing out on-going sponsorship and funding opportunities;
  • Oversee that all program participants feel supported, empowered and are re-engaging socially and physically in our community;
  • Oversee recruitment, training and scheduling of PRO program volunteers;
  • Carryout an evaluation of the first year of this program and implement any changes from the report to ensure susses of program into the second year of this program;
  • Fulfill reporting requirements as required by the Peace Arch Hospital Community Foundation;
  • Track and report program stats and success stories to Executive Director on a monthly basis.


Job Qualifications, experience and skills:

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to prioritize and organize workload and meet deadlines
  • Fluency in the English language, both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of a second language is considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite applications
  • Demonstrated ability to establish respectful and satisfactory work relationships with clients and staff
  • Ability to handle difficult situations using appropriate discretion and respect for the individual
  • Use of a safe, reliable vehicle and
  • Able to provide a current driver’s abstract
  • Current first-aid certificate



  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working within a community setting
  • Experience and training related to interviewing and assessing client needs
  • Analyzing complex situations and researching relevant information to support client needs
  • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating programs
  • Experience working with volunteers
  • A minimum of 2 year’s recent, related experience working with older adults



Bachelors Degree of Social Work from an accredited school of Social Work.
