Innu Roundtable Secretariat is accepting applications for Innu Prevention Services Social Worker (2 Positions)
The Innu Round Table Secretariat, representing the collective interests of Mushuau and Sheshatshiu Innu First Nations’ members is presently recruiting to employ two dynamic, skilled individuals with a background in social work. You will have an integral role as part of a new team of Innu health workers focused on the development of a prevention services regime on the First Nations in Sheshatshiu and Natuashish located in the province of Newfoundland & Labrador.
This is a significant opportunity to undertake important Innu led community development work. The goal is to increase supports for all families and children to try and prevent further child protection system involvement. The Innu Healing Strategy is the foundation for this work and the strengths of Innu culture and knowledge embedded in the emerging Innu Care Approach will be applied to all prevention activities and services.
The applicant should have an understanding of colonialism, Indian Residential school, as well as intergenerational trauma and how it impacts the child welfare system. Ability to work a flexible 35 hour work week.
Degree in social work and eligibility for registration with the NLASW;
Preferably 2-5 years experience in child welfare field.
