Position: Outreach Counsellor
Nature of Position:
Supporting children, youth and families within the client-focused models of Outreach Services, this position provides assessment, goal-oriented planning and implementation services. The position aids the client in identifying, understanding and overcoming personal/family problems by establishing and achieving realistic goals. The Outreach Counsellor is responsible for written documentation, liaising with the supervisor, Ministry of Children and Families Social Workers and other community professionals as required.
Qualifications (knowledge, education, skills, experience)
An advanced degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, or a comparable human service field from an accredited institution and at least two years of direct program delivery experience in family and children’s services, and/or; a bachelor’s degree in Social Work or another human service field and at least three years of post-degree direct delivery experience in family and children’s services. Current First Aid/CPR certificate, positive work references and clean Criminal Record Check also required.
Use of personal vehicle: Yes
The ideal candidate is a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills. Must possess strong goal planning and evaluation skills along with demonstrated case management abilities. Must have experience working with children, youth and families, and be a collaborative team player. A strong knowledge of community resources/services is essential. Must possess excellent written/verbal communication skills. Experience and knowledge of accreditation (COA), working with Integrated Case Management (ICM) and familiarity with Client Administration Database (CAMS) are preferred. This position requires the employee to use his/her own personal vehicle for work purposes.
