Student Information – Women’s Studies 201/Winter 2017 Still Has Seats Available

I am again offering Women’s Studies 201 in Winter 2017, and just wanted to let you know that there are plenty of seats available. I understand that WMST is a qualified elective for entry into the BSW and an elective for the Social Services Diploma, and the themes should be a great fit for your students (including analysis of systems of gender, race, sexuality, class, and ability; masculinities; media; and gendered/racialized violence).

We will build on WMST 101, which is a pre-requisite, but I am happy to waive that for students with some Sociology or other relevant SOWK background, in gender studies or social analysis. They just need to drop me a line. I always have a good cohort of SOWK-aimed students in my classes, so that will definitely be a good group for activities/discussion. The course is hybrid – meaning we meet only every 2 weeks in class and all assignments, exams etc are submitted online, giving students more flexibility for work/family commitments. If anyone is interested please let me know!
