UFV has received funding from Universities Canada’s Queen Elizabeth Scholars Program for credited internships focused on Youth Leadership in Climate Action for Resilient, Inclusive, and Equitable Communities. Potential placements are available in Bangladesh, Kenya, the Philippines, and Tanzania. University of the Fraser Valley students have the opportunity to engage in applied international projects and research alongside expert international partners.

Possible international placements

Kenya

UN-Habitat Mathare Roots, a Youth Organization focusing on Environment and Food Systems, youth-led development, and planning policy; and indigenous-Led Organization (MIKIA), Which Focuses on ecosystems, Land Rights, and resource mobilization/One Health

Open to: Planning – Geography and Environmental Studies/Agricultural Students/Computer Studies/Political Science/Social Work/SOJUST Students

Bangladesh

Opportunities to partner with Jago Nari Unnayon Sangstha (JNUS) on initiatives related to ecosystems and disaster risk reduction.

Open to: Global Development Studies / SOJUST Students

Tanzania

Institute of Human Settlement Studies – City Lab and also with a youth arts organization related to placemaking.

Open to: Planning-Geography and Environmental Studies and Graphic and Digital Design /GIS

Philippines

Agriculture Focused Applied Research Placements Working with Tarlac Agricultural University on climate-sensitive agricultural productivity
