The SSC also liaises with students and student groups, Sustainable UFV, and the Sustainability Advisory Committee providing support where appropriate for student based sustainability endeavors.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>NATURE OF WORK<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The SSC will develop a selective work plan early in the term of engagement that draws on some of the following elements: The listing below is not to be considered exclusive.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">FACILITATE STUDENT ENGAGEMENT IN SUSTAINABILITY MATTERS<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Serves as a resource, mentor and support for student engagement in sustainability matters<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Organizes and facilitates student-oriented sustainability visioning events<\/li>\n<li>Mentors, advises, and engages student organizations with institutional direction regarding sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Assists, as appropriate, with student sustainability projects<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">EDUCATIONAL ENGAGEMENT IN SUSTAINABILITY<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Facilitates the development of sustainability-oriented learning opportunities<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identifies opportunities where addressing sustainability endeavors could offer educational value<\/li>\n<li>Liaises with faculty to create partnerships with UFV classes<\/li>\n<li>Hosts and delivers educational workshops on sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Utilizes results from a campus-wide waste audit to encourage behavioural changes related to waste reduction<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">PROJECT COORDINATION AND PROGRAM DELIVERY<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Researches, coordinates and promotes UFV sustainability projects and programs in the areas of alternative transportation systems, water management, waste management, food systems, carbon neutrality, energy management, community development and land use<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Researches past projects and approaches to sustainability issues<\/li>\n<li>Coordinates and connects with stakeholder groups both on and off campus<\/li>\n<li>Helps to develop timelines and task lists pertaining to the projects<\/li>\n<li>Assists with the recruitment and coordination of volunteers<\/li>\n<li>Develops promotional approaches and marketing campaigns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">PUBLIC RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In consultation with the appropriate stakeholders, develops marketing campaigns and carries out public relations as it pertains to UFV\u2019s involvement in sustainability<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Promotes FM services and sustainability efforts undertaken by the department<\/li>\n<li>Promotional institutional engagement in sustainability using a variety of public relations methods (ex. Presentations, interviews, newsletters, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Updates the sustainability web-pages<\/li>\n<li>Develops marketing campaigns and strategies to meet the needs of sustainability projects and programs<\/li>\n<li>Designs, creates and\/or outsources graphic work for promotional materials and sustainability campaigns<\/li>\n<li>Promotes events, activities and programs via appropriate forms of media including UFV Today, myUFV, and various social media outlets<\/li>\n<li>Represents UFV at sustainability related community projects and events<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">PROTOCOL AND PROCEDURE DEVELOPMENT<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Consults with facility users to developing protocols and procedures which foster sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Researches and identifies best practices pertaining to sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Advises and supports departments in adopting alternative practices to increase and enhance institutional sustainability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">GENERAL<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Responds to various inquiries by faculty, staff, students and administrators regarding sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Develops various applications, writes proposals and reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>An upper level student seeking to complete a bachelor\u2019s degree<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated interest and commitment to campus sustainability<\/li>\n<li>Superior verbal and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Strong leadership instincts and socialization skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to approach &#8211;
