Ron Dart has taught in the department of political science\/philosophy\/religious studies at University of the Fraser Valley since 1990. He was on staff with Amnesty International in the 1980s before joining UFV. Ron teaches a course on “Religion, Nature and Science” at UFV, and his decades long interest in mountaineering (beginning in Switzerland in the early 1970s) has meant he has an interest in ecological issues.<\/p>\n

This lecture will cover the historic landscape of the Canadian Ecological Tradition. We will begin with the
\nturn by the Confederation Poets to Nature as a fount of inspiration, reflect on the ecological-political
\ndecisions to found national-provincial parks, ponder how\/why Canadian mountaineering clubs were\/are
\nengaged in ecological issues, discuss the Skagit Valley controversy of the 1960s, light down on the role of Greenpeace, turn to the Abbotsford SE2 crises and conclude with the Green Party.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
