4th year UFV Biology Student, Brenna Hay<\/strong>, presented her poster entitled “Evaluating potential cytotoxicity and genotoxicity of neonicotinoids with fish cell lines<\/em>” at the 45th Annual Canadian Ecotoxicity Workshop<\/a> held in Vancouver on Monday, October 1st.<\/p>\n

The theme for this year’s workshop “Science. Application. Action.” reflects the work that each member has undertaken to maintain the natural ecosytems in a world faced with growing human demands for food, water, land, energy and other products. This workshop brought together representatives from all sectors to share and collaborate and to produce science that can be applied, and action can be taken to mitigate the adverse effects of pollutants on our ecosystems.<\/p>\n

Brenna and her research supervisor and Dean of the Faculty of Science at UFV, Dr. Lucy Lee<\/strong>, had the pleasure of meeting Keynote Speaker, Bob McDonald<\/strong>, from CBC’s Quirks & Quarks<\/a>.<\/p>\n

UPDATE!!<\/strong> <\/span>Brenna was awarded second place for her poster! She received a certificate and a cheque for $400 from CEW! Congratulations Brenna!<\/p>\n
