Did you know that Earth Day was first celebrated in the United States in 1970? It all began with a group known as the Earth Day Network. Their mission was and continues to be:<\/p>\n

To broaden and diversify the environmental movement worldwide and to mobilize it as the most effective vehicle to build a healthy, sustainable environment, address climate change, and protect the Earth for future generations<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The United Nations, recognizing that many countries show a common expression for our planet, decided to designate April 22<\/strong> as International Mother Earth Day<\/strong> in 2009.<\/p>\n
