Bird Studies Canada – British Columbia Region –\u00a0<\/strong>BC Programs Coordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bird Studies Canada is seeking one highly motivated, organized and experienced individual to coordinate volunteer participation in BSC\u2019s British Columbia office, in particular the British\u00a0Columbia Coastal Waterbird and Beached Bird Surveys, the Important Bird Area program, and the Vancouver Urban Birds project. The Programs\u00a0Coordinator is also responsible, in coordination with other staff in BC and nationally, for assisting in fund–\u2010raising for regional programs in BC.<\/p>\n

The position is based at the Pacific Wildlife Research Centre in Delta, where the BSC British Columbia Program is co–\u2010located with the Canadian Wildlife Service.<\/p>\n

The position requires strong volunteer coordination, data management and communication skills (written and oral), experience in statistical analysis and graphic design, working with a GIS, and computer skills (MS Office–\u2010proficient, including Word, Excel, Access and Power Point).<\/p>\n

Duties and responsibilities include:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Coordinate and support a volunteer network, including regional coordinators and volunteers, to deliver on the programs\u2019 research and monitoring objectives.<\/li>\n
  2. Coordinate the programs\u2019 monitoring and research activities.<\/li>\n
  3. Recruit and further develop the programs\u2019 participant base.<\/li>\n
  4. Develop, evaluate and modify programs\u2019 monitoring and research protocols.<\/li>\n
  5. Regular communications via phone, email, yearly newsletter, social media, and other media with program volunteers, partners, and the public.<\/li>\n
  6. Represent BSC in various forums including workshops and at scientific meetings.<\/li>\n
  7. Prepare technical, summary and financial reports for funders, participants and project partners.<\/li>\n
  8. Assist fund–\u2010raising efforts in coordination with other BSC staff, including writing funding applications, for the programs\u2019 ongoing development.<\/li>\n
  9. Other duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
